Hi everyone,

So there hasn't been much posted here recently but I figured that the Valithria fight is specialized enough that we should have a post on it. Feel free to post your own ideas/experiences here but the following is what I have learned from 10s and 25s.

As for a spec, focusing on Nourish output is the way to go. Here is mine,
http://www.wowarmory.com/talent-calc.xml?cid=11&tal=0532000100000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000230023312331502531053313051
For better mana efficiency you could take points out of revitalize and put them into Tranquil Spirit, or if you are below the soft haste cap (850) you could also put those points into Nature's Grace. I am using the Rapid Rejuv glyph, Glyph of Nourish and Wild Growth. I am considering switching out Wild Growth for Regrowth (and then taking care to recast Regrowth before it falls off) but I have not tested this yet.

Last night I was only going in about 2 portals per fight, when I absolutely needed mana, and I was focusing alot of my attention on Valithria early on with increasing raid awareness as the fight went on and damage increased. Doing this I was consistently putting out about 9-10k HPS. My basic strategy was to start with Rejuv, 2 stacks of LB, Regrowth, add 3rd LB stack then spam the hell out of Nourish until Rejuv was about to tick off, casting Swiftmend to consume it before it actually fell off, then refreshing Rejuv and spamming more Nourish. Refresh Regrowth as necessary. I was doing my best to keep a 3 stack of LB rolling but it would occasionally fall off and I would have to restack. I will try to toy around with only rolling 1 or two stacks and letting them Bloom.

As for raid heals, things should be mostly calm unless a Blazing Skeleton is casting its AoE. Just raid heal as necessary, not too much else to say. I was trying to cast Nourish on the tanks inbetween spamming it on Valithria when the tanks got hit but it just depends on what adds are up.

Let me know what you think or what you find useful.

That's pretty similar to what I did as my offspec today, only difference is I put 3 points into Natural Perfection for the extra 3% crit, only 1/5 in Tranquil Spirit (basically just so I could get on down the tree), but I have quite a bit of mana regen since I lean a bit more on spirit than some.  And 2/3  on Revitalize for 10% chance vs 15% chance of restore on cast.  I went with the Glyph of Nourish, Glyph of Rapid Rejuv and the Glyph of Lifebloom, as I figured that extra 1 sec with a lifebloom up so I could spam another Nourish could add up towards the end.  But I have yet to test this out, so we'll see.

I have a question, is the soft cap really 850 (taking into consideration 5/5 GotEm)?  I was thinking it was more in the 550s-650s range, but I'm not sure and haven't looked it up in a while.

With the 11/0/60 Spec (No Nature's Grace, no Celestial Focus), the "Haste cap" I was referring to was a 1-second Nourish Cast, not referring to the GCD. From what I have read, it seems that with this spec you need 856 haste rating to obtain a 1 second Nourish cast time (with NG and CF i think you need 735 haste for this). I believe that includes having a  Shaman for WoA totem as well as a Moonkin/Ret pally buff. I think for this fight a 1 second Nourish cast will be extremely important (I think mine is currently at 1.1, I would love that staff from DBS 10 or Blood Queen 25).

I think dropping down on Revitalize and Tranquil Spirit in favor of more crit would be a great idea. Going into the portals should give more than enough mana regen to drop these points.

Ah, gotcha.  Yeah, my Nourish is currently at 1.17 cast time.  One sec would be fantastic, but I don't see me getting anywhere near that haste number too soon unfortunately.  Glyphed/talented healing touch was around a .93 sec cast time, but I don't think it was doing near as well in #'s as Nourish (even taking into consideration the .24 sec difference), wtb an hps dummy for recount!

All of us should be on the lookout for sidegrade peices in icc 10/25 to gem/enchant specifically for this fight.  I let people bid one (offset) for healing stuff they want to use in this fashion.  Pick up those crit/haste/spellpower pieces and gem them for haste for this fight and it will help a lot.  With a buff giving us 500-5000+ mp5 regen stats are not worth much.

I am now cringing at the thoughts of those trophies being discarded this week.  If I had been actually *thinking* I could have picked up two of the heroic tier pieces and gemmed specifically for this fight.  Dang it....
