So I started using this addon a few weeks ago called CLCRET. Basically ret dps works out that its more effective to just use whatever is off cooldown instead of waiting an extra split second to use a more powerful attack. Obviously if two moves are up then you go with the more powerful of the two, but other than that just choose whichever is up first. The addon CLCRET simplifies the process so you can focus mroe on what's going on the screen and less on your bars. Basically you do a priority list of your moves (for instance Judgment, DS, CS, Cons, Exorcism, HR) and the corresponding icon will pop up on your screen when the move goes off cooldown. It centers the icon below your toon so you can look more to the screen. It also has options to assign boxes around your toon to show cooldowns (like AW and pots) so you can make faster decisions on when to pop. I found it extremely useful on the Blood Queen fight, and other fights requiring extensive movement or watching for debuffs as it allowed my attention to be directed in more directions. Additionally, the FCFS nature of the addon led to approx. a 200dps increase when I was hitting the target dummy. There's also a basic 6969 rotation for prot spec.
I'm by no means an expert on the use of the addon, but even in it's most simplistic implementation I found it extremely useful.
